Do I need a permit to put up a fence?

A fence permit is required if you are putting up a new fence, changing from one kind of fence to another (wood to chain link, etc) or if you are changing the location of the fence. Permit cost is based on the cost of the materials for the fence.

A permit is required to put up a storage shed. Sheds must be smaller than 200 square feet or they must be bricked. They must be five feet from each property line (fence) and at least 10 feet from the house. They may be no taller than 12 feet. A drawing must accompany the permit with a location of where the shed will be placed in the yard. Permit costs are based on the cost of the construction of the shed.

Do I need a garage sale permit? Where do I go to get one? How much do they cost?

A permit is required to have a garage sale. A garage sale permit can be acquired on the first floor of the Water Tower.  Permits should be purchased at least 12 hours in advance of the sale. Garage sale permits cost $5.00.

The City has done work on my street, when will they replace the grass?

If the City had to remove the grass in a resident's yard to do a repair, the grass will be replaced at the end of the repair work and when the cleanup is done.

Am I in a Flood Zone? Can you fax/mail me copies?

What are setback requirements for Commercial Property?

That information can be acquired at the Water Tower on the 1st and 3rd floor. It can also be faxed and/or mailed.

What do I do if there is a streetlight out?

Watauga residents can call the Public Works Department to report a streetlight that is out or malfunctioning. The secretary will then e-mail this information to TXU Energy.

I am a new resident, what requires a permit in this City?
