AUTHORITY TO KILL, IMPOUND OR DESTROY ANIMALS
The Watauga Animal Control Officer, or any police officer is
authorized to:
(1) Impound an animal
which is diseased or endangers the health of a person or another
animal;
(2) Destroy an impounded
animal at the city shelter if the animal control officer
determines that recovery of the animal from injury, disease, or
sickness is in serious doubt.
(3) Destroy any animal
suspected of having rabies, or any animal manifesting a
disposition to bite, when such animals are found at large, after
having made a reasonable, but unsuccessful effort to capture the
animal.
