• Animal Shelter Volunteers will fill out a Volunteer Application, attend the Volunteer Orientation and sign the Volunteer Release Form before working at the Animal Service Center. 

• Volunteers will sign up for one (1) hour of volunteer work for a minimum of four (4) weeks as an introduction to the Volunteer Program.

• Volunteers under eighteen (18) years of age shall be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

• All volunteers shall sign in on arrival and sign out before leaving the Animal Service Center. 

• Volunteers shall be well-groomed and maintain a neat and clean appearance while working at or representing the Animal Service Center. 

• Volunteers shall wear a name badge at all times while working at or representing the Animal Service Center.  

• Volunteers will be assigned to one or more of the following job descriptions: 

1. Kennel Assistant

2. Office Assistant

3. Lost and Found Specialist

4. Grooming Specialist

5. Adoption Assistant- Offsite Adoptions

6. Special Events Volunteer

• Volunteers will be trained by Animal Services Staff to perform the duties of the individual job descriptions.

• Volunteers shall not be allowed to view, participate, or assist in the euthanasia of any animal.

• Volunteers shall not be allowed to view, participate, or assist in the disposal of any deceased animal.

• Volunteers will follow Shelter Policies and Procedures at all times.
