ANIMAL SERVICES CENTER ADVISORY COMMITTEE

REGULAR MEETING

WATAUGA POLICE DEPARTMENT, 7101 WHITLEY ROAD

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 13, 2009

Members Present:

 

            Dr. Terry Litsey            Vice-Chairperson

            Alex Magee                        Secretary

            Lt. Bill Sink                Member

and

Beth Torres             Assistant City Secretary

with

            Chairperson Pam Burney absent without notice.

 

 

CALL TO ORDER:

 

Vice-Chairperson Litsey called the meeting to order at 12:00 p.m.

 

CITIZEN’S OPEN FORUM:

 

None.

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:

 

1.      Approval of Minutes of Regular Meeting of March 20, 2007

 

Member Sink made a motion to approve the Minutes of Regular Meeting of March 20, 2007.  Secretary Magee seconded the motion with all members present voting aye.

 

2.   Approval of Minutes of Regular Meeting of September 17, 2009

 

Member Sink made a motion to approve the Minutes of Regular Meeting of September 17, 2009.  Secretary Magee seconded the motion with all members present voting aye.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

1.      Discussion on Health and Safety Code, Chapter 829, Animal Control Officer Training

 

Members discussed the requirement that all Animal Control Officers complete thirty (30) hours of continued education during each three (3) year period as part of the requirement for the Animal Services Center Inspection.

 

Secretary Magee advised the City of Fort Worth is offering free continued education night classes, which she and her coworkers are attending at this time.

 

2.      Discussion on Health and Safety Code, Chapter 823, Animal Shelters in reference to Animal Services Center Inspection

 

Vice-Chairperson Litsey reviewed the State Inspection form and advised he would be available to perform the Animal Services Center Inspection when needed.

 

3.      Discussion on providing Monthly and Yearly Animal Services Center reports

 

      Secretary Magee gave a summary of the Monthly and Yearly Animal Services Center report. She stated that to give a complete overview the euthanized animals have been categorized by euthanasia due to 1) illness, aggression or feral and 2) lack of space.

 

ADJOURNMENT:

 

With there being no further business to conduct at this time, Member Sink made a motion to adjourn. Secretary Magee seconded the motion, with all members present voting aye.

 

The meeting adjourned at 12:20 p.m.
