SPECIAL MEETING

WEDNESDAY, MAY 25, 2005

CITY HALL COUNCIL CHAMBERS, 7101 WHITLEY ROAD

6:00 P.M.

 

The City Council of the City of Watauga, Texas convened in pre-council at 6:00 p.m. and in special session at 6:01 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2005 with the following members present:

 

            Henry J. Jeffries          Mayor

            Ernest P. Koontz         Mayor Pro Tem

            Richard Helmick         Council Member

            Pete Beierschmitt        Council Member

            Lee W. Griffin                        Council Member

            Jerry Adams                Council Member

and

            Kerry Lacy                  City Manager

            Kathleen Wedell         Assistant City Secretary

with

Council Member Seth Thomas and Council Member Mike Steele absent.  City Secretary Nancy Meadows was absent.  City Attorney Mark G. Daniel was not required to attend this meeting.

 

PRE-COUNCIL:

 

Mayor Jeffries called the pre-council meeting to order.

 

CITIZEN’S OPEN FORUM:

 

There were no citizens that wished to speak.

 

PUBLIC COMMENT BY CITY COUNCIL IN RESPONSE TO CITIZEN’S OPEN FORUM:

 

DISCUSSION OF CITY COUNCIL AGENDA:

 

None. 

 

CALL TO ORDER:

 

 Mayor Jeffries called the meeting to order.

 

INVOCATION:

 

City Manager Kerry Lacy gave the Invocation.

 

PLEDGE TO THE FLAG:

 

TEXAS PLEDGE – “Honor the Texas flag:  I pledge allegiance to Thee, Texas, one and indivisible”

 

Mayor Jeffries led the Pledge to the Flag and the Texas Pledge.

 

APPROVAL OF AGENDA AS CONSTITUTED IN PRE-COUNCIL MEETING:

 

Mayor Jeffries waived this portion of the meeting due to the fact that there was only one item on the agenda.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

1.      Discussion and action on authorizing purchase of city hall furniture through Royer & Schutts Commercial Interiors in the amount of $204,753.

 

Council Member Koontz made a motion to authorize the purchase of city hall furniture through Royer & Schutts Commercial Interiors in the amount of $204,753.  Council Member Beierschmitt seconded the motion, which prevailed by the following vote:

 

AYES:  Griffin, Helmick, Koontz, Beierschmitt, Adams

NOES:  None

ABSENT:  Thomas, Steele

 

ADJOURNMENT:

 

With there being no further business to discuss at this time, Council Member Koontz made a motion to adjourn.  Council Member Helmick seconded the motion, which prevailed by the following vote:

 

AYES:  Griffin, Helmick, Koontz, Beierschmitt, Adams

NOES:  None

ABSENT:  Thomas, Steele

 

The meeting adjourned at 6:06 p.m.
