Homework Help
Homework Help Center
Beginning Tuesday, September 11, 2012 the Homework Help Center is back in session!  Teen and adult volunteers work with students in grades 1-6 on Tuesdays 3:45 to 5:45 PM and/or Thursdays 5:30 to 7:30 PM. Teen volunteers are in the National Honor Society or have high academic grades. Volunteers assist students with their homework assignments. General tutoring is not part of the program.

Volunteers who speak Spanish or Vietnamese or Laotian in addition to English are especially needed. Contact the Adult Services Librarian if you wish to help at 817.514.5863.

Tutor.com
Tutor.com provides live online help for all age students needing assistance with homework. When the tutors are not available, students have access to their resource library. This program also provides career and resume help. Get an app for your iphone or ipod to be able to connect anywhere. For more information, call the Reference desk at 817.514.5865.

Learning Express Library
Learning Centers for elementary, middle school, and high school offer tests, courses, and ebooks to improve skills in key curriculum areas.

Learning Express Library also provides access to over 350 practice tests including SAT, GED, ASVAB, TAKS, AP and U.S. Citizenship. There is a section for Spanish speakers that includes reading, writing, math and GED preparation. It also includes practice tests for civil service and vocational career certification. Your Watauga Public Library card is your passport to this interactive test preparation and practice resource.

Tumblebooks
Tumblebooks are animated, talking picture books which teach kids the joy of reading in a format they'll love. They are created by taking existing picture books, adding animation, sounds, music and narration to produce an electronic picture book (and some classics) which you can read, or have read to you.

The language drop-down menu allows you to view the site in French and Spanish, instead of English.

Tumblereadables
Tumblereadables read-along books are great for early or shy readers. This collection features over 120 read-along books for children, middle schoolers, teens, and adults including classics and even Shakespeare.
The books will highlight sentences as they are being read, turn the page automatically, and offer three different text sizes.
