The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help. CERT members also are encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in their community.
Our Mission is to prepare our Citizens to help make our Community a “Better and Safer place to Live".
For emergency situations and/or weather alters when the City siren have been activated, Tune to AM 1670 for further information Please make sure your radio reaches this frequency, as some older model radios do not.
It is recommended that we learn and get familiar with the ICS (Incident Command System) and NIMS (National Incident Management System). Learning this will help avoid confusion during times of actual incidents. Training is being planned from our Fire Chief, but to get a head start, below are some links for on-line courses that can be taken. Upon completion of each course, you take an on-line final exam, and when you pass, you are emailed with a link to the FEMA site where you can print out a certificate showing successful completion. Please print this out and give to the Training Coordinator to file in your training records folder.
