The Watauga Department of Public Works is the main administrative office providing supervision and direction to the Engineering, Planning, Street, Traffic, Building Inspection, and Water & Sewer Maintenance. This department represents the City in dealing with governmental agencies, private consultants, and the general public. Public Works responds to citizen inquiries and strives to provide rapid and safe service.

Public Works Director - Johnnie Reagan

Johnnie came to the City of Watauga on August 1, 1992 as the Public Works Superintendent responsible for managing street, storm drain, channel construction, and garage operation.  Johnnie served in this capacity until June 1, 1994 when he was promoted to the position of Assistant Public Works Director.  As the Assistant Public Works Director, Johnnie was responsible for Planning and Zoning, budget for all department functions, all field operations, engineering functions related to projects, and Building/Code Enforcement operations.

In May 1997, Johnnie became the Interim Public Works Director, and was promoted to the Director of Public Works on October 1, 1997.  As the Director, Johnnie is responsible for Engineering Development, Planning and Zoning, Zoning Board of Authority, serves as Flood Plain Manager, Public Works operations of streets, storm drains, water and sewer, parks, and is the Building Official for the City of Watauga.

Johnnie is Water/Sewer Certified.  He is a certified inspector for polyethylene and steel welding 1104 and appendix C, and he is a certified inspector TEEX Texas A&M Engineering and Construction.  He is a member of the International Conference of Building Officials, and the Texas Flood Plain Management Association, as well as the Institute for Municipal Engineering and other associations.
