Yard of the Month Contest

Help keep our City beautiful and recognize those that work hard to keep our community attractive. The Yard of the Month Contest begins in April and continues through August of each year. One winner is chosen from nominated yards each month by a selected group of judges from the Watauga Parks and Community Services Department. All yards are judged by these categories: Shrubs, Trees, Flowerbeds, Lawn Accents and Overall Appearance.  The winners receive a Yard of the Month sign to display in their yard along with a chance to win Yard of the Year.  Yards must be nominated in order to be eligible for the contest.  You can nominate a yard by contacting Jeannette Garcia at (817) 514-5827.  A nomination form can be printed by clicking here.

Adopt-A-Spot

The City of Watauga Parks and Community Services Department will work with the adopting group or person to determine the specific section of roadway or park to be adopted.  There will be many deciding factors as to who adopts a certain spot, such as size of group, group ages, single person, etc.  Guidelines would consist of weekly and/or monthly pickup of trash and debris, picking of weeds and grooming of flowerbeds, if any.  This would be a great project for Boy and Girl Scout Troops.  Each spot adopted will have a sign placed at their spot stating who is taking care of that location along with the City of Watauga Logo. (Adopt-A-Spot Guidelines)
