Virtual Library Now Available

Thanks to a $6,600 grant from the Verizon Foundation, active members of the Watauga Senior Adult Center may now access the Internet and a variety of helpful online services directly from the Senior Adult Center, in their own virtual library.

The Watauga Public Library and the Friends of the Watauga Library developed the grant, which has provided a small collection of large print books and recorded books at the Senior Adult Center in addition to a computer station. Active members of the center may access the library catalog and reserve books, as well as gain access to the Internet and resources helpful to senior citizens.  Participants must have a library card from Watauga or another MetrOpac library in order to actually borrow books and recorded books.

Volunteers will be available to assist and provide instruction for those who are not used to computers.  For more information or to volunteer as a computer aide, call Connie Barnes at (817) 514-5863 or Vickie Vickers at (817) 514-5892.
