The Community Services Officer is staffed by one sworn Officer and has several disparate duties:
One of the most important duties of the Officer is to oversee the City's School Crossing Guards. There are currently 13 crossing guards and 2 substitute Guards which are employed by the City of Watauga. Our crossing guards assist children in safely crossing streets both on the way to school and after school as the children are returning home.
The Officer also serves as the Police Department’s Crime Prevention Unit and is the point of contact for Crime Watch, Business Crime Watch, and the Citizen’s Police Academy. This Officer also assists the SRO during School Career Days, School Carnivals.
The Community Services Officer is actively involved with City of Watauga special events, the Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association, and business special events. He also serves as the point of contact for Police Department tours for scout groups and similar organizations.
One final duty of the Officer is handling of all complaints in reference to inoperative vehicles left on the City's streets.
Community Services is committed to helping keep our City a safe place to live and work, through a cooperative effort of the citizens of Watauga and the Watauga Police Department.
To report an inoperable vehicle on your street, please email the Community Services Officer.
