About VIPS
Prevention of crime through proactive measures and in partnership with our citizens is of the utmost importance to the Watauga Police Department. The Watauga Police Department’s Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) program may encompass any present or future activities or organizations (Citizens’ Police Academy Alumni Association, Neighborhood Watch, Explorer Post, etc.) whose volunteers work in partnership with the Department to provide some level of service toward the welfare of the community.
The VIPS program is designed to allow citizens of the City of Watauga to work with the Police Department by volunteering their time. We currently accept volunteers for the following:
- Court Security and Assistance
- Citizens on Patrol (requires completion of Citizens Police Academy Class)
We are looking to expand our program to offer the following:
- Records
- CID (investigations)
- Crime Victim Liaison
If you are interested in the VIPS program please contact Officer Stephen Gochal at 817.514.5758 or complete an online application
