Inspection Information

Before a Certificate of Occupancy can be issued, a building must pass several inspections.
The following is the Certificate of Occupancy process:

  1. Apply for lights on inspection. This will allow a safety inspection by the City of Watauga Building Inspector before power is released.
  2. Once power is on at that location, call for a Certificate of Occupancy Inspection. This will allow the Building Inspector to check outlets, switches, emergency lighting, exit signs and lighting.
  3. Call the Fire Marshal at 817.514.5880 to set up for a Certificate of Occupancy Inspection. After his inspection is made your Certificate of Occupancy will be printed up by the Administrative Assistant/Planning and Zoning.
  4. Do not open to the Public until you have received your permanent Certificate of Occupancy. Your Certificate will be made available for pickup at the City of Watauga Water Tower (7800 Virgil Anthony Blvd.)
Proper zoning of property is required to receive a Certificate of Occupancy. Platting may be required as well.

Inspections are available 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday - Friday.  Please call 817.514.5806 to schedule an inspection.
