All Electrical, Mechanical, General, Back-flow, and Plumbing Contractors operating within the city are required to register to obtain a City of Watauga Permit before beginning work on any commercial or residential project. All registrations expire the last day of the year in which the application was completed.
To register for a permit, contractors must present the following:
Plumbing Contractors:
- Valid Driver's License
- Current Master Plumbing License
- Certificate of Liability Insurance currently on file with the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners
- License(s) for any journeyman they have working for them

Electrical Contractors:
- Valid Driver's License
- Current Master Electrical License
- Certificate of Liability Insurance
- License(s) of any journeyman they have working for them

Mechanical Contractors:
- Valid Driver's License
- Current Mechanical License
- Certificate of Liability Insurance

General Contractors (Builder, Remodeler, Irrigator, Roof, Fence, Sign, etc.):
- Valid Driver's License
- Certificate of Liability Insurance
- Irrigator must provide an Irrigation License

Backflow Contractors:
- Valid Driver's License
- Backflow License
- Gauge Report
- Certificate of Liability Insurance
