This page will serve as the 2022-2023 Proposed Budget page for the City Budget, Crime Control Prevention District, and Economic Development Corporation.   

The budgeting process in Watauga begins each year with a City Council Strategic Goal workshop in order to align the City’s strategic initiatives with City Council and citizen priorities.

The City Charter mandates that a proposed budget be filed by the City Manager to the City Council and City Secretary’s Office no later than August 1st for the new fiscal year beginning October 1. The process leading to the budget adoption is participatory and includes a communications plan that encourages input from citizens, boards, City departments, and the City Council.  

The budget presents revenues and expenditures from each of the City’s funds.   From there, it is discussed during City Council Work Sessions in August.  Scheduled Public Hearings are listed in the column to the right.  Budget dates are listed below:

Budget Workshop:   August 3, 2022 at 5:30 p.m.

Public Hearing on Crime Control Budget:  August 8, 2022 at 6:30 p.m.

Public Hearing on Economic Development Budget:  August 22, 2022 at 6:30 p.m.

Property Tax Information for FY2021-2022 can be found on the City's Property Tax Rate and Information Page.  This page will be updated for FY2022-2023 as it becomes available after the City Council reviews the proposed tax rate on August 3rd, 2022.
