Joshua Jones began serving the City of Watauga as City Manager on January 3, 2022.
Mr. Jones has spent his 13-year career in local government in the role of City Manager or Assistant City Manager. Mr. Jones joins the city after serving as Assistant City Manager for the City of Converse, TX. He began his career in 2009 as City Manager in the City of Hale Center, TX, where he was the city’s first-ever professional city manager. Following this, he was City Manager of Joshua, TX, from 2015-2020.
Josh is a member of and has received the “Credentialed Manager” designation from the International City/County Management Association and is a member of the Texas City Management Association. He’s also been involved with numerous local organizations in the communities where he has served including YMCA, Lions Club and other volunteer organizations. He has a bachelor’s degree in history, with a minor in political science and a master’s degree in public administration from Texas Tech University.
Jones states, “I’m very excited for the opportunity to join the great team here in Watauga. I’m humbled by the City Council placing its trust and confidence in me to lead the city forward as we continue our mission of delivering an exceptional quality of life for all who live, visit or operate a business in here.”
