The City of Watauga is a Home Rule municipal government and operates under a Council-Manager form of government. The Mayor and seven (7) Council Members are elected at large.  Council Member Places 1, 2, 6 and 7 are elected in even numbered years, while the Mayor and Council Member Places 3, 4 and 5 are elected in odd numbered years.  All Council Members are elected for a two (2) year period in compliance with the City's Home Rule Charter.   City elections are conducted in accordance with the Texas Election Code held in May (first Saturday) each year.  The Tarrant County Election Results Archives contains reports and results for all elections held in the City of Watauga. 
In accordance with the Texas Election Code, the City Secretary serves as the Chief Election Official for the City of Watauga and is tasked with overseeing and administering all City elections.
