Free Smoke Alarms

It is a proven fact that smoke alarms save lives. With very few exceptions, most fire fatalities occur in homes without a working smoke alarm.

The Watauga Fire Department offers free smoke alarms to qualified residents. Please use the guidelines below to determine whether you qualify for this program, and contact the Fire Marshal at (817) 514-5880 with any questions.

   1. Participants in this program must be homeowners in the City of Watauga.

**If you rent your home and it does not have adequate smoke alarms please contact your property manager/owner.

   2. Watauga Fire Department will provide smoke alarms to those who are financially          unable to purchase them.

Watauga Fire Department will help you install your smoke alarms if you need assistance.

Where should smoke alarms be installed?
Install a smoke alarm in (or immediately outside) each bedroom.
Install an additional smoke alarm in each major living space.
Avoid installing smoke alarms in the kitchen or in bathrooms.

To qualify, you must be a Watauga resident without a working smoke alarm. Please provide your information and a Fire Department Representative will contact you to arrange an install date and time.
