Teen Court

Overview

Beginning in the fall of 2010, the City of Watauga partnered with the City of North Richland Hills and with the City of Haltom City to form the Northeast Tarrant Teen Court (NETTC). NETTC is an alternative to Municipal Court for youths who receive Class C tickets and allows teenagers to accept responsibility for their actions, develop leadership and contribute back to their community with service projects and hours.

Learn more about the NETTC Program by browsing the sections of the Teen Court to the left.

Note: Alcohol and tobacco offenses will not be eligible for NETTC.

Program Specifics

The information on this web-page has been prepared to help you understand NETTC proceedings and to inform you of your rights and duties. Please contact us if you have any questions.

Schedule

  • Teen Court will not be in session on city recognized holidays or on holidays set by Birdville Independent School District.
  • The NETTC is held two to three times per month, depending on Birdville Independent School District, city and federal holidays. Contact NETTC for a current schedule.

Security Screening

Teen Court participants must arrive for their Teen Court hearing no later than 5:55 p.m. Every person entering Teen Court will be subject to screening by our marshal and through our metal detector. All purses, backpacks, etc. will be thoroughly searched. In order to expedite this process we ask that you only bring what you need for your court hearing. In addition, all attending, including families and friends, must adhere to the Teen Court Dress Code.

Note to Residents

Please be advised NETTC is not a trial court. All juvenile offenders must admit their guilt and agree to accept a sentence given to them by a jury of their peers. A judge is present to oversee the proceedings. In addition, there are certain requirements for youths that wish to select the Teen Court program as an alternative for handling their citation(s).
