On September 24, 2018, Zolaina R. Parker, City Secretary, was notified she has earned the prestigious Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) Designation, awarded by the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC).
To qualify for the CMC Designation, one must commit to life-long learning by attending extensive education programs and making significant contributions to the community and municipality in which they serve. Those that achieve the CMC Designation have demonstrated that they have actively pursued educational and professional activities and have remained informed of current socio-political, cultural, and economic issues that affect local governments and municipalities.
“This designation is not solely the product of my own merit, as it would have not been possible without the unconditional support of my family, City Council, and fellow co-workers. As a municipal employee, it is an honor to elevate the City of Watauga through my professional accomplishments,” said Mrs. Parker.
As of August 2018, there are only 110 Certified Municipal Clerks who have earned the title of CMC in the State of Texas. Through this accomplishment, Mrs. Parker and the City of Watauga, proudly join an elite group of Texas Municipalities whose Clerks have achieved the respected Certified Municipal Clerk Designation.
Founded in 1947, IIMC is a professional association with more than 14,000 members in the US, Canada and 15 other countries. IIMC’s primary goal is to actively promote the continuing education and professional development of municipal clerks through extensive education programs, certification, publications, networking, annual conferences and research. IIMC also engages in municipal research administration, enhances critical professional skill development and fosters a spirit of mutual assistance and good fellowship among municipal clerks around the globe.
During the October 22, 2018, Regular City Council Meeting, Mrs. Parker and the City of Watauga will be presented with the award by Mrs. Mary Kayser, Fort Worth City Secretary, and Immediate Past President of IIMC.
