City of Watauga Employees Working Towards Better Wellness

The City of Watauga launched its new employee wellness program WataugaFIT on October 1, 2018. The WataugaFIT program provides the foundation for the City to develop activities, offer incentives and modify work environments to support the health and well-being of City employees. Employees can earn Wellness Points for participating in different wellness related activities such as getting a Flu shot, walking or running a 5K, getting an annual physical and completing a weight loss challenge. Prize levels range from a water bottle to a Wellness Day Off.

Over a third of Watauga’s workforce is participating in WataugaFIT. Many employees were seen walking or running the City’s Scared to Run 5K/1 Mile event last Saturday, September 29, 2018. The City used this event to kick off the program. Andrea Gardner, City Manager, says, “Healthier eating and physical activity has many proven benefits, thus I applaud the City of Watauga for encouraging employees to improve wellness.”
