Introducing the Hector F. Garcia Scholarship

SERTOMA Club of Watauga and the City of Watauga are proud to introduce the Hector F. Garcia Scholarship Fund.  Special annual fund-raising efforts by the members of SERTOMA and City of Watauga generate the scholarship's funds, which are then awarded each spring to one (1) student from Birdville Independent School District (BISD) and one (1) student from Keller Independent School District (KISD).  Applicants must be residents of the City of Watauga.  The purpose of this scholarship is to provide one-time funding to graduating seniors to assist them in furthering their higher education goals in a fully accredited community college or four-year college or university.  Community service is a major consideration in the determination of this scholarship as SERTOMA and the City of Watauga recognize the importance of volunteer service to the vitality of the business environment in any community. The application deadline is April 30, 2019.

Mayor Hector F. Garcia (1939-2018) served the City of Watauga, Texas for over 39 years in various capacities which included Co-Chairman of the first Watauga Charter Commission, Chairman of the Watauga Zoning Board of Adjustment, Council Member, and Mayor.
