The City of North Richland Hills has a 12" water main running down Watauga Road near Patsy Lane that has ruptured. They are still trying to shut it down and detours are being implemented. Once we know more, we shall update this post. If possible avoid the area. If you live near here, please consider filling your bathtub and pitchers with water for use later in the day just encase we have to shut water mains down in the area.
Update: 7:00 AM - August 15 - Watauga Road has all lanes open to traffic. The water main has been repaired. The road will need to be repaired properly at a future date. There will be rough sections of pavement in this area.
Update: 3:30 PM - One eastbound lane is open to traffic, NRH is working to open one westbound lane. The water main repair will be ongoing.
Update: 10:00 AM - If everything goes as planned, no one will be without water service. However, if a water valve fails to close, then we would have to shut down other water mains in the area.
Update 8:02 AM - Detour - All lanes eastbound and westbound are now closed with detours provided.
Update: 7:43 AM - Detour - Westbound lanes of Watauga Road are closed at Patsy Lane, traffic is being detoured to Patsy Lane and then toward Johnnie back to Watauga Road.
If you are without water and need bottled water, please call the Watauga Public Works Department at 817-514-5806.
