Construction to replace the deteriorating retaining walls surrounding Capp Smith Lake shall start on November 4, 2019. We anticipate construction to be complete in February 2020.
Knight Erosion Control, Inc. out of Arlington, Texas is the general contractor on this project.
The existing Capp Smith Lake water surface elevation shall be lowered a little more than 3 feet from its normal pool elevation to allow for the replacement of the existing retaining walls. We should have about 9 feet of pool elevation left for the existing ducks, fish, and other wildlife to utilize during construction. However, the lake will not look as aesthetically pleasing or smell the same once the normal pool elevation is lowered.
We installed two aerators in the lake. The main purpose of aeration is to increase and stabilize the amount of dissolved oxygen in the entire water column and this has a widespread effect on many different aspects of pond and lake health.
This work is necessary as the existing retaining walls are starting to fail and would eventually become a safety hazard for visitors of our park. We plan to keep the park open during construction. Please exercise caution while utilizing this park. Please do not cross into any active construction zones.
It is anticipated that Sarah Court may be closed throughout the construction process. There are no houses that front Sarah Court and no residential driveways connected to Sarah Court.
If you experience any issues with this project, please contact our Construction Inspector, Wayne Jarvis, at 817-682-715-8040 cell or 817-514-5753 office.
The residents on Bennington Dr, Glen Drive, Amber Drive, and Oakhill Road (west of Whitley Road) shall receive a written notice prior to the start of construction.
