Construction Notice - The Splash Pad Construction started today

The Splash Pad Construction started today in Capp Smith Park just north of Hightower Drive with the placement of a fence to secure the site and protect the patrons of Capp Smith Park.  Cole Construction, Inc. shall work on site improvements and Kraftsman Commercial Playgrounds and Water Parks shall construct the actual splash pad and play equipment.

If all goes according to plan the schedule is:

1.    Cole Construction - Stage I should be complete by August 21, 2020 and includes: temporary fencing, demo of existing building, splash pad site preparation, storm drain lines, water and sewer lines, irrigation vaults, and other miscellaneous items of work.

2.    Kraftsman – Should move in on August 24, 2020 and be complete with the actual Splash Pad by October 23, 2020 and includes the Splash Pad, all of it features, and a special needs and physically challenged musical play equipment.

3.    Cole Construction - Stage II should start on October 26, 2020 and be complete by December 29, 2020 and includes: trails, sidewalks, parking lots expansion, irrigation system, sod and site cleanup.

Funding for this project is in participation with the Watauga Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) and City of Watauga.  Once complete, we expect the Parks and Recreation Department will come up with a plan to open the Splash Pad for use in late Spring 2021.  The Musical Play Equipment should be ready in January 2021.

During Construction, all construction related questions may be submitted to the Public Works Department at 817-514-5806.  We look forward to a safe and fast construction process.
