Waste Collection Services are Changing on July 1, 2022

The City of Watauga's partnership with Frontier Waste Solutions for Solid Waste Services will begin July 1, 2022.  Please do not set Frontier trash carts out for service until the first week of July (July 1-7)

Service Details:

  • Frontier Waste will be providing automated trash& recycle collection services ONCE per week utilizing a Frontier Waste 95-gallon cart
  • A combined 3 cubic yards of bulk/brush will also be collected ONCE per week on your designated collection day
  • Frontier will only collect trash placed inside a Frontier Trash cart, except for brush/bulky waste
  • All collection days will remain the same.  A service map is available on the Frontier website

Waste Connections will continue to provide waste collection services through Thursday, June 30th. Frontier will begin collections on July 1. Waste Connections will have teams picking up trash and recycling carts on the resident's last service day beginning Friday, June 24th - Thursday, June 30th. Residents should put out their carts as they normally would on their regularly scheduled trash day during that timeframe.

Frontier will be delivering one new trash cart (95 gallons) and one new recycle bin (65 gallons) prior to service start (July 1, 2022). For individuals requiring additional carts/bins, they will need to request them from Frontier (888.854.2905) for a charge of $7.41 per cart or $3.11 per bin, per month. Frontier will deliver new carts to each address. Frontier is still working with Waste Connections on an implementation plan for collecting the old carts. New monthly base rates are $16.53 for residents (an increase of $5.94) and $15.01 for seniors (an increase of $5.98), however services do now include bulk collection once per week on the same day as your collection day which has not changed. Weekly bulk is limited to 3 cubic yards rather than the current 5 cubic yards per month. For larger amounts of bulk, customers should contact Frontier for an estimate for the delivery of a construction dumpster.

Frontier will be making a presentation during the Regular Council Meeting on June 13, 2022 starting at 6:30p and the City recommends attending/watching online during or after the meeting for additional information.

For more information regarding the new collection service, acceptable practices and bulk, you can review the Frontier Waste Collections Flyer or contact Frontier Waste Collections as 888.854.2905.
