Update - Shade Structure Construction - Splash Pad Area - Capp Smith Park

June 25 - Saturday 9:40 am Update - The new shade structure is open for non rental use now.  The park is fully open.

Friday 10:53 AM Update: There will be short periods of time through the day that we close the playground (not the splash pad) while moving steel for the shade structure today.

Original Post:

The contractor constructing the shade structure near the Splash Pad at Capp Smith Park has an opening to begin work today, June 23, 2022, at 11:00 AM.  Since passing on this opportunity may result more delays and the summer heat is relentless, the decision has been made to allow this work to begin with little notice to our patrons of the Splash Pad.

If all goes well, the shade structure will be fully open for use by this weekend.

The plan is to allow the Splash Pad to remain open and the Public Works Department will deploy barricades to assist in keeping children out of the construction zone.  If conditions warrant, we may need to shut the Splash Pad down to complete the shade structure work.
