Message from the Mayor:FALL IS HERE, FALL IS HERE! It has been a brutal summer, but cooler temperatures have finally arrived. Days are getting shorter, and the morning temps will get downright chilly. It's time to finish some outdoor projects and look ahead to winter. It's not that far off. Great job! To the Recreation Department and all the volunteers that made our first post-COVID Fishing Tournament a huge success. Over 100 participants with 41 total fish caught with trophies and prizes awarded to several age groups. We also grilled 427 hot dogs. The Rec is back. October brings us early voting for the November 8th mid-term elections. Get out and vote. Early voting runs October 24th thru November 4th. Our right to vote is one of the many rights we enjoy, making it the greatest nation there is. Exercise that right. We celebrate World Teacher Day is October 5th. Show your support by displaying a light blue ribbon at your home or business. Fire Safety Week runs October 9th thru the 15th. And a reminder that the State Fair of Texas runs thru October 23rd. And, of course, Monday the 31st is Halloween. So be watchful of the little ones who will be out and about. A few other significant days this month are….. Cinnamon Roll Day - October 4th Hug a Drummer Day - October 10th Be Bald and Free Day - October 14th. Remember, Family, friends, and neighbors are what make Watauga "A Great Place to Live." By the way, only 86 shopping days till Christmas.
