City of Watauga - Newsletter

Mayor's Message

The last month of 2017 is finally here.  As we pause to reflect on the many blessings bestowed upon us this year we also think back to all the wonderful things we have accomplished.  As  a City we are continuing to move in a positive direction in every aspect of serving our Citizens.  The City Council and City Staff worked diligently throughout the year to ensure City business was conducted in the most efficient manner.

During the month of December several of our Departments are sponsoring toy drives to help those less fortunate.  City Hall has an "Adopt a Child" Christmas Tree in the Lobby.  The Police Department, Fire Department and Library are all respectively hosting toy drives.  The City's spirit is that of giving and this is truly exemplified through the efforts of our wonderful City Staff.

Remember to join us at the Hometown  Christmas Event on Saturday, December 2, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  There will be much fun and entertainment for the whole family!

On behalf of the City Council and City Staff, I wish each and everyone a wonderful Holiday Season and a very Merry Christmas!  May the New Year bring everyone much love, joy and happiness, and may it bring continued success to the City of Watauga as we strive to continue making it, "A Great Place to Live".

Inoperative Motor Vehicles

The storage of abandoned, wrecked, dismantled or inoperative vehicles, or parts, can create conditions likely to reduce the value of real property in our city. It can create fire hazards, harbor-age for rodents and insects and is a nuisance to public peace, health, safety and general welfare.

What is an Inoperative Motor Vehicle?

As defined in Sec. 26-264 of the Watauga Code of Ordinances. Inoperative vehicle - means any vehicle that is self-propelled and defined as follows: (1) Does not have lawfully attached to it: a. An unexpired license plate; b. A valid motor vehicle inspection certificate, unless said motor vehicle is exempted from vehicle inspection pursuant to V.T.C.A., Transportation Code § 548.052; (2) Is wrecked, dismantled or partially dismantled, or discarded; (3) Is inoperable and has remained inoperable for more than 72 consecutive hours, if the vehicle is on public property; or 30 consecutive days, if the vehicle is on private property. Where can I store my inoperative motor vehicle? Inoperative motor vehicles shall be stored inside an enclosed structure like your garage or screened from public view by appropriate means. Please help keep Watauga looking the best it can be.
