Texas Power Switch
The City of Watauga offers residents the option to participate in a voluntary group energy switching program. It is free to participate and there is no obligation to sign up or switch. It doesn’t cost the City anything to make this program available to our residents, nor does the City receive any financial compensation. This is simply a service available to the residents of Watauga.
Texas Power Switch is a licensed energy aggregator that facilitates group switching programs. Residents are invited to register for free online. Texas Power Switch then asks electricity providers to bid against each other in a reverse auction where the provider who offers the best rate, wins. The winning provider is then able to offer that rate to everyone who registered.
To date, over 40,000 Texans have participated and those who switched with the last auction are expected to save an average of $452 per year. In addition, Texas Power Switch offers 100% renewable energy plans to provide residential customers clean power at no additional cost.
Those interested in possibly switching through the program should register at www.texaspowerswitch.com/Watauga.
The next auction is on January 26th. The more people who register before the 26th, the more likely the Texas Power Switch is to secure better deals.
