Mayor Pro Tem's Message
Welcome to summer! The temperatures are hovering around the high 90’s, and school is out, so the children are enjoying being able to relax and play! Lots going on at the Library. The Summer Reading Club registration begins Monday, June 4, for children ages 2 through 18. Check out the activities on-line for the Library, or drop by and get information on all summer activities. Adult events also abound at the Library.
Concerts in the Park features two performances, on Friday June 1, featuring Me and My Monkey, and Friday, June 8, featuring Michael Hix and the Holla. Both performances are from 6pm to 9pm.
The Council will hold its June regular meeting on Monday, June 25 at 6:00 p.m. The public is always welcome to attend.
Please be safe this summer, and watch out for our children—they are our future, and we need to nurture and cherish them.
Enjoy yourself, be proud of your home and your city, and Shop Watauga!

Did you know...
What is Zoning?
It is regulations that govern the use of land, and the location, size and height of buildings. Zoning divides a jurisdiction into multiple districts, with each district containing a distinct set of regulations that are uniformly applied to all property within the district. Zoning ordinances consist of a text specifying the regulations and a map defining the location of the districts. Zoning goes with the land, not with the owner or operator.
For more information on zoning contact Planning and Economic Development online or via phone at 817.514.5818.

NRH - Rufe Snow Drive Widening Project: The City of North Richland Hills and Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) widening project of Rufe Snow Drive from just south of Ridgetop Road to Watauga Road has transitioned over to the Phase II (southbound driving lanes) and started asphalt removal. Continuous dual northbound and southbound driving lanes are to be open during construction other than minor single lane closures as necessary.
Public Works Street Maintenance Project: The City of Watauga on a trial basis has installed a street maintenance treatment product called HA5 to Harrison Way from Lyndale Drive to Quail Meadow Drive in order to extend the life of the street. This trial is to determine the possibility of future street applications should the product trial hold up to traffic, weather and cost analysis. Additional information about HA5 is available at www.preserveasphalt.com.
