Message from the MayorHello Watauga. Well, it's time to put July behind and look ahead to August, the hottest part of the year. And looking at the forecast, Mother Nature isn't going to let us down with temperatures hitting triple digits right off the bat. Please make sure that everybody, of all ages, stay hydrated. There are literally hundreds of heat related deaths each year, most of which are preventable. And don't forget our four legged friends. Water, shade and air conditioning are your best friends. Tarrant County has a program to provide window A/C units that is open to elderly, disabled individuals or families with babies and/or small children. Contact Tarrant County Department of Human Services or Tarrant County Community Development and Housing for more information.

Library Trends for 2019: The Printed Book Shall Continue to Rise!
NPR's Marketplace reports that e-books have declined in popularity in recent years. According to the NPD Group, sales peaked in 2013 and dropped nearly 30 percent by the end of 2018. Surprisingly, the shift is being driven by younger readers. Jim Fetherston, president of the Book Manufacturers' Institute, says that for the first time in a decade, the book manufacturing industry is seeing more demand than it can supply.
