Garage Sales, Occasional Sales, Estate SalesGarage Sale / Occasional Sales GuidelinesA permit is required per section 22-280 of the City Code of Ordinances to have a garage sale. The permit is $5.00. The City no longer issues signage. Signs are limited to a total count of five (5), to include one sign being placed on the property where the sale is to take place. Four (4) sales are allowed per year, with the duration of the sale not to exceed four (4) consecutive days. Permits must be obtained at least 12 hours in advance of the sale. If the garage sale is cancelled due to weather or some other emergency, you can return your permit to the Watauga Police Department, Records Division within seven (7) working days from the date of the sale in order to reschedule. This only applies if the sale does not occur at all. Any person failing to comply with the City Code of Ordinances may be subject to a penalty of up to $500.00 per violation, per day. |

Estate signs shall contain the name, logo, and phone number of the estate sale company. No homemade signs will be permitted. Civic ReadyThe City of Watauga, TX has a new mass notifications system for it's citizens. CivicReady is a communication service that sends immediate alerts to Watauga's citizens who are subscribed to the system. All users will have the ability to customize their notification preferences after signing up. Alerts can be sent via email, text, and/or phone call so you never miss important communication about an emergency event in the area. CivicReady also has an app you can use to receive push notifications on your mobile device. The free Alert Me app is available on both the Apple and Google Play Stores. Be sure to sign up before using the App. |

Water BillCustomers are now able to view past water consumption levels and perform service requests including re-reads of meters. City of Watauga utility billing includes water consumption, sewer services, trash collection services, and an optional library donation. Payments made on-line currently can only be made with Visa or Master Card. Do not pay on-line if your water is disconnected or is subject to disconnection! |

Background check required. Special Program Assistant We have many adult and family programs every year, and we need help running the programs. Help set up chairs, tables, displays, and craft tables. Stay for the program and assist the librarian in providing a successful event. Assistant Shelver Accuracy and ability to sort and arrange items into alphabetical and numerical order required. Sort items on a cart and place in order. You may be asked to shelve media, paperbacks, or magazines. Homework Help Center Tutor Teen and adult volunteers work one-on-one with students in 1st through 6th grade on Tuesdays from 3:45-5:45pm and/or Thursdays from 5:30-7:30pm. Teens should be in the National Honor Society or have high academic grades. Volunteers who speak Spanish or Vietnamese are especially needed. ESL Tutor Volunteers are needed to teach small-group and one-on-one classes. Training is either provided in the Library or online. Students and tutors meet in the Library at a time agreeable to all. Typical commitment is 2-3 hours a week for an extended period. There is no need to speak another language. Student and tutor materials are provided by literacy grants from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation. ESL Conversation Partner Volunteers are needed to help adult ESL students with their conversational skills in either one-on-one or small-group sessions. Students and tutors meet in the library at a time agreeable to all. Translator Can you speak a language other than English? Foreign language speakers are needed to speak with ESL students over the phone and to help translate library fliers into Vietnamese or French. Office Assistant (Circulation Department) This includes filing, stamping cards, physically processing books, checking in magazines and other routine tasks. Volunteer must enjoy detail work and understand the importance of accuracy and neatness. Computer Instructor Teach a small-group class or assist with a class, such as computer basics, Word, Excel, or online job searching. One-on-One Computer Tutor Assist beginning computer users in learning basic computer skills. A knowledge of Internet searching, Microsoft Word, and email required. Book Club Moderator Lead a small book discussion group, such as a mystery book club or a general interest group, once or twice a month. Teach a Class The Library is looking for gardeners, artists, collectors, crafters, and film buffs to offer classes or lead interest groups for adults. Volunteers in PolicePrevention of crime through proactive measures and in partnership with our citizens is of the utmost importance to the Watauga Police Department. The Watauga Police Department’s Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) program may encompass any present or future activities or organizations (Citizens’ Police Academy Alumni Association, Neighborhood Watch, Explorer Post, etc.) whose volunteers work in partnership with the Department to provide some level of service toward the welfare of the community. The VIPS program is designed to allow citizens of the City of Watauga to work with the Police Department by donating volunteer hours. We currently accept volunteers for the following:
